How to check your United States application
US immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications handled by the Department of State.
US Department of State CEAC Visa Status Check
ceac.state.gov
Open official service ↗Step-by-step instructions
- Choose Immigrant Visa or Nonimmigrant Visa to match the application you submitted.
- Enter the case or application identifier and the additional fields displayed for your selected route. Use the details from your own application confirmation.
- Complete the image security code and submit. Read the result together with any instructions from the embassy or consulate.
Choose the correct application type
CEAC is a visa-case service. A petition submitted to USCIS has its own case system. Passport courier tracking also uses a separate reference.
Information to keep ready
Keep your application acknowledgement, submission date, visa category and the name of the submitting office available. The official service determines which identifiers are required. Enter personal information only in that service; VisaWand does not need your passport number, login password or application reference.
If the record cannot be found
Compare the service and reference with your receipt and check the fields requested on the official screen. A technical error or missing result does not establish a decision. Follow the handling office’s help instructions if the record still cannot be retrieved.
After an update or decision
Read the actual notice and any document request, collection instruction or deadline. Passport movement, the validity of an issued permission and progress of a pending application are separate checks. Use the decision notice to confirm the outcome and next action.

Travel-advice references provide entry and consular context. They do not supply a private application result, and nationality-specific entry advice must not be applied to every passport.
