Mariehamn’s next listed service visit is 10–13 November

The Finnish Immigration Service, Migri, lists 10–13 November 2026 as its next scheduled customer-service visit to Mariehamn, following the October visit. Its Åland service-point page explains that there is no permanent Migri service point on the islands: an official normally receives customers approximately every four to seven weeks. This is an appointment-planning follow-up using the published calendar, not a new residence-permit category or an extension of existing permission.

The listed address is Torggatan 16 A in Mariehamn. Residents must book in advance for a visit there, and the same official page says Åland residents may instead use a service point in mainland Finland. It also lists 15–18 December as the following visit. These dates identify planned service availability; they do not establish that a particular appointment remains unbooked. A resident whose documents need attention should check the booking system rather than assume they can attend on any listed day.

An online extension must be submitted before permission expires

Migri’s appointment-booking instructions distinguish applying for an extension from subsequently proving identity. Applicants using Enter Finland should submit the extended-permit application before the current permit expires. The instructions say that a timely online application becomes pending and the right to work continues in accordance with the old permit. The identity-verification visit does not have to occur before the old permit expires when the online extension has been submitted in time.

This distinction is especially useful where the next Mariehamn appointment falls after an applicant’s expiry date. For illustration, someone with permission expiring before the November service visit should assess and submit the appropriate extension within the existing validity period, rather than wait for the appointment to begin the application. This example does not determine that person’s eligibility or expand their existing work rights. Use Migri’s booking instructions to arrange the identity visit after correctly submitting the application.

The booking instructions also require a family appointment when applying with a spouse or children. Up to six people can attend one family appointment; a larger family needs two bookings. Colleagues must each book separately.

Confirm whether a visit is required and bring the originals

Migri’s guidance for applicants already in Finland states that extended and permanent residence-permit applications must be made while the applicant is in Finland. Most applications can be submitted through Enter Finland, which also allows payment, monitoring and a certificate of the pending application. An email address is sufficient to use the service; Finnish online banking credentials are not universally required for access.

For some online extensions, strong electronic identification can remove the need for a visit. Enter Finland tells the applicant whether an appointment is still required, so residents should follow the message in their own case rather than assume that every renewal needs travel to a service point. Where a visit is required, Migri’s Visiting a Service Point checklist calls for a valid passport, a passport photograph or retrieval code, and original supporting documents. Documents outside Finnish, Swedish or English require official translations. Paper applicants also need the completed form and the specified copies.

Budget for the correct application and keep the booking usable

Migri’s 2026 fee schedule lists an ordinary extended permit at EUR 230 electronically or EUR 430 on paper, including the listed extension categories for studies or minors. It separately lists EUR 53 for an extension based on international protection. Renewing a residence-permit card is another service, listed at EUR 60 online or EUR 105 on paper. The distinctions matter: a replacement card and an extension of the underlying right to reside are not interchangeable applications.

The service-point handling instructions warn that arriving more than five minutes late requires a new appointment. A booking that cannot be used should be cancelled; the published charge for an unattended, uncancelled appointment is EUR 50. Service is available in Finnish, Swedish and English, and applicants needing an interpreter must arrange and pay for one themselves. The immediate action is to identify the correct permit procedure, submit within its deadline, read the identity-verification instruction and book a service location with the documents ready. The November calendar cannot guarantee either an appointment or a decision date.
