Citizens of Antigua and Barbuda need a separate procedure to replace a lost passport

Report the loss and establish the replacement route

Citizens of Antigua and Barbuda who lose a passport should not assume that an ordinary renewal timetable covers replacement. Immigration’s passport page says a reported lost or stolen document is invalidated and cannot be used again if recovered. Return a recovered document to the Passport Office or Immigration rather than attempting to travel with it.

The domestic checklist requires a police report, citizenship evidence, name-change documents where applicable, a completed form, certified photographs and prescribed fees. It also describes a memorandum and Immigration interview, followed by an investigation estimated at approximately three months before replacement production begins. That is materially different from the page’s ordinary three-week passport estimate. These are existing published instructions, not a newly announced delay; an applicant abroad should ask the receiving mission which investigation steps it coordinates.

Use New York’s loss checklist for the supporting evidence

New York’s checklist requires notification of the loss or theft, details of the missing passport in section 8, and an official police report. If the report is unavailable, it describes a sworn affidavit with a police incident slip identifying the lost Antigua and Barbuda passport; neither document should simply be omitted.

It also requires the original birth certificate, and a baptismal certificate if the surname is absent. Supply three identical colour photographs taken within six months, measuring two inches square. The same notary who completes section 9 must certify one photograph. Read the designated signature, stamp, seal and applicant-signature instructions before arranging certification.

Check the New York fee category rather than copying a single total

New York’s passport webpage lists US$180 for a lost or stolen 32-page adult passport and US$300 for a 64-page adult passport. It lists US$80 for an applicant under sixteen. Its downloadable checklist instead gives a general US$180 replacement line plus US$30 shipping and handling, without the webpage’s full age and page-count distinctions. Confirm the applicable total before obtaining payment instruments.

The checklist requests two separate money orders payable to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. The webpage says applications received in New York are couriered to Antigua for issuance and gives eight weeks as an average renewal time. That wording does not establish an eight-week promise for a lost-passport investigation, nor does the fee table’s emergency column prove eligibility for expedited replacement.

London publishes different charges and a separate emergency document

The High Commission’s current fee page, effective 1 April 2025, lists £100 for a lost, damaged or stolen passport for someone aged sixteen or over, and £50 for a younger applicant. Courier charges are separate: £60 for collection in Antigua or £130 for return to the UK and Europe. Applicants elsewhere must arrange prepaid collection and postage through the stated couriers.

The same page lists an emergency travel document at £75. This is a separate service from replacing a full passport. The fee entry does not establish its validity, approved route, transit acceptance or issuance time. Before changing a flight, ask the consular section which document can be issued and whether your airline and transit authorities accept it. London requests bank transfer with the applicant’s surname as reference and a payment-receipt copy. Use the current fee page to obtain payment details rather than an older saved form.

Match photographs and application forms to the receiving office

London’s passport application page gives two recent photographs measuring 45 by 35 millimetres for the UK-born applicant categories it describes. They must be placed in a small envelope rather than attached with staples or paper clips. Those instructions differ from New York’s three two-inch-square photographs, which is a practical reason to select the receiving office before paying a photographer.

The London page links separate adult and child forms and provides consular telephone 020 3668 3810 for clarification. Its approximately eight-week processing statement is a general estimate, not confirmation that a missing passport can be replaced before a particular departure. No universal urgent-issuance deadline or guarantee was established by the sources reviewed. Keep the loss report, identity evidence and payment receipt together when asking the relevant mission to assess the case.
