Azerbaijan travellers should check temporary waivers before paying for an e-visa

Current ASAN guidance distinguishes nationality-specific three-visit waivers from the single-entry e-visa, and explains application charges, passport matching and address-registration deadlines.

Check the nationality-specific waiver and its end date

Azerbaijan’s official ASAN Visa eligibility page lists temporary visa-free arrangements for several nationalities alongside the electronic-visa route. Travellers should check those notes before paying for a visa, especially if they have already used the permitted number of visa-free entries. This is a current follow-up on published arrangements, not a claim that a new exemption began on 29 October.

The page lists Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain under an arrangement running from 15 February 2026 to 15 February 2027. Japan and South Korea have a period from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027; Bosnia and Herzegovina and Singapore have one from 1 August 2026 to 1 August 2027. Each note provides three visa-free entries within a year, with up to thirty days per entry, and requires a valid visa for the fourth entry. Check the relevant period and previous journeys.

Choose the correct e-visa when no exemption applies

The approved e-visa country list includes Indian, Pakistani, British and US passport holders, among others. Eligibility for that application is different from nationality-based visa-free travel. The ASAN conditions say dual nationals must apply using the nationality of the travel document they will actually use; a visa linked to another document is invalid.

The Azerbaijan Tourism Board’s visa guide confirms that the standard e-visa is single entry, valid for ninety days, with permission to remain for up to thirty days within those dates. The passport or other travel document must be valid at least three months beyond the e-visa expiry. For illustration, ninety-day visa validity does not allow a visitor to remain for ninety days, or to reuse a single-entry visa for another trip. Check the dates and entry count before booking a multi-country itinerary.

Allow for processing and distinguish the government charge

The ASAN information resource describes standard processing within three working days and urgent processing within three hours, including holidays and non-working days. Standard applicants should submit at least three working days before the planned arrival. Leave practical room to correct a rejected or incomplete request rather than treating the final hour as a dependable travel plan.

The published information page lists a US$20 non-refundable state fee and an additional US$9 electronic processing service fee. Those published components total US$29; applicants selecting an urgent service should check the amount displayed for that option before paying. Payments are made electronically using the supported cards. Retain the acceptance notice and use the official status-check function if the outcome email is not received.

Check the passport scan and carry the issued document

The ASAN conditions make the applicant responsible for accurate data, a readable scan of the travel document’s photograph page and correct payment. Unreadable passport material can cause refusal, and false or incomplete information can prevent acceptance. Use an email address that you can access, because both application and outcome messages are sent there.

The issued e-visa should be printed and presented with the linked travel document at the border. It does not grant paid-work rights. Someone planning employment or residence must investigate the relevant visa and permit arrangements rather than assuming an electronic visitor permission covers the activity. Issuance remains subject to entry restrictions under the Migration Code.

Register the address when the stay crosses the applicable threshold

The State Migration Service’s place-of-stay guidance requires registration for temporary stays exceeding fifteen days, with a thirty-day threshold for Kazakh citizens. Registration must be completed within the applicable period after arrival. Its online deadline calculator asks for citizenship and arrival date, making it a useful resource for identifying the individual deadline.

The service lists an application form and passport copy, including visa and latest-entry pages, and confirms that registration carries no state fee. A change of address normally requires registration at the new place within five working days, subject to the stated same-owner accommodation exception. Confirm with the hotel or host that the record has been made. Address registration is separate from extending the authorised stay: completing it does not turn a thirty-day permission into a longer visa.
