Burkina Faso passengers need a travel card for entry and exit alongside visa checks
The online travel-information form has applied since April; current guidance separates its QR record from visa permission and nationality restrictions.

The travel form is required for both directions
Passengers preparing travel to or from Burkina Faso should complete the online fiche de voyage for each journey, alongside their separate immigration permission. France’s foreign ministry guidance, updated on 15 September, dates this obligation to 8 April 2026 and describes it as applying before both entry and departure. This is a current procedural guide, not a newly announced October visa scheme.
The distinction is practical: an arriving traveller may have obtained an electronic visa but still need the travel-information form, while a departing passenger should not assume the arrival submission covers the outward journey. Use the government Fiche de Voyage platform for the travel record and the separate official visa service where a visa is required. Completing one does not establish that the other requirement has been satisfied.
Download the QR record after checking the itinerary
The travel-card platform identifies four stages: personal identity, travel document, journey and declaration. It asks for details including nationality, residence country and occupation; the document type, number and issuance information; and the journey’s origin, destination, dates, purpose, duration, accommodation, airline and flight number. Have the actual booking and passport available so the form describes the journey being undertaken.
The final stage requires checking and validating the information, then downloading the QR code or digital travel card for presentation to the officer. A partially completed browser session is not the final record. The platform publishes airport border-police contact details for questions. Its displayed instructions do not establish a fee or a fixed submission window measured in hours; the supported timing is to complete it before the journey, rather than invent a 24- or 72-hour deadline.
Match the visa category to the visit and supporting documents
The official Visa Burkina short-stay page describes a maximum 90-day visa, with the actual stay fixed according to the application information. It distinguishes single and multiple entries and warns that short-stay permission does not itself authorise employment without the labour authority’s prior approval. A business visit and taking up a job therefore need different checks even where the traveller uses the same airport.
Its general checklist includes a valid passport, completed and signed form, recent colour photograph, evidence of the visit’s purpose, medical certification, health insurance for the stay and the payment receipt. The displayed tourism tariff is CFA66,000 for either single or multiple entry, while business rows list CFA99,000 and CFA132,500 respectively. Confirm the payable category and current amount in the official application process; these figures should not be substituted for a different consulate’s transaction or additional service charge.
Nationality restrictions must be checked before applying
The US Department of State’s Burkina Faso guidance says the government suspended visas to Americans from 30 December 2025 and directs Americans to the Burkina Faso embassy for current requirements. A functioning travel-card form or a generic online visa category is consequently insufficient evidence that an American applicant can obtain permission. Establish the current nationality position before paying or booking travel dependent on admission.
Spain’s official entry guidance says Spanish nationals require a visa and should not rely on obtaining one at the border. It directs applicants toward the electronic service and requires the issued document to be printed for arrival. These nationality-specific instructions are useful checks against older general descriptions of visas on arrival; travellers should not infer present eligibility from an undated description of a border service.
Check exemptions and the departure file separately
France’s guidance identifies evidence that French-Burkinabè dual nationals should carry to benefit from visa exemption, including a Burkinabè passport, nationality certificate, national identity card or consular card. That exemption concerns the visa requirement and should not be assumed to remove the passenger travel-form obligation. The same guidance calls for more than six months of passport validity at departure for travellers seeking entry and advises printing the electronic visa.
For an eligible traveller, the next actions are to confirm the nationality-specific visa position, obtain the appropriate permission, complete the journey form and retain its QR record with the required documents. Before leaving, complete the outward travel form and check that the planned departure respects the authorised stay. France also strongly advises against travel in the current security context; administrative permission does not establish that a particular itinerary is safe.
