Use digital issuance instructions instead of an old sticker process
Cambodia stopped overseas visa-sticker issuance from 3 October 2026, according to the Cambodian honorary consulate in Osaka’s notice published on 4 October. Travellers using older instructions to obtain a sticker should check the current process with their mission. The change concerns the form of visa issuance; it does not mean every nationality can enter without a visa or that an application receipt is permission to travel.
The Osaka notice directs applicants to the official Foreign Ministry e-visa portal. It says physical sticker processing is no longer available at honorary-consulate counters such as Osaka and Fukuoka, while the embassy in Tokyo can accept applications for digital visas at its counter. Applicants in Japan should therefore establish which office can actually handle the request before travelling to a consulate.
Choose an application channel and allow for review
The Cambodian embassy in Bangkok’s current visa guidance confirms its own switch to digital issuance from 3 October. It describes an in-person route in which officers review documents and enter the application into the electronic system, and a direct online route reviewed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Cambodia. It also describes arrival processing at designated entry points, subject to the applicable requirements.
Timing varies by route and visa type. Bangkok’s general page gives three to fifteen business days depending on category. The Osaka notice gives roughly five to seven working days for the online process. These are published administrative estimates, not guaranteed deadlines for a particular flight. Apply with sufficient time for review and a request for additional evidence rather than assuming every digital visa is issued instantly.
Distinguish tourist-visa validity from the stay granted at entry
Bangkok’s Type T page identifies a single-entry tourist e-visa with three months’ validity and a one-month stay after arrival. The traveller must enter before the visa expires. A three-month use-by period does not authorise remaining in Cambodia for three months, and single entry does not cover repeated departures and returns.
That page lists a non-refundable US$30 tourist-visa fee for its consular service, with exact undamaged US-dollar cash requested for in-person payment; Thai-baht cash is accepted with an exchange service charge. Follow the payment method for the actual application channel rather than assuming those counter arrangements apply online. Type T is for tourism or visiting family and friends, and employment is not permitted.
Avoid duplicate applications and keep the approval accessible
The Type T instructions warn against submitting a physical embassy application while an online e-visa request is pending. Duplicate applications may lead to refusal. Keep the existing reference and check the official system or the mission handling it before starting another request just because a status message has not arrived.
Bangkok provides an official status-and-download function using the notification reference. Retain the issued certificate rather than just the payment receipt. Its Type T page describes a possible one-time thirty-day extension through Immigration before the current stay expires; this requires a request and is not automatic.
Complete the arrival declaration and retain local registration evidence
Cambodia’s official Francophonie summit visitor resource states that the free Cambodia e-Arrival declaration should be completed within seven days before arrival or on arrival. It links the official arrival service and separately directs e-visa applicants to the Foreign Ministry portal. Holding a digital visa does not remove the arrival declaration. The summit resource also specifies more than six months’ passport validity at entry for e-visa travellers.
For British visitors, the UK entry guide confirms the thirty-day tourist stay and requires the passport to remain valid for at least six months from any subsequent renewal or extension’s start. It also describes the Foreigners Present in Cambodia System: accommodation managers or landlords should register guests, while certain private stays require self-registration. Missing that record may prevent an extension. Keep the entry permission, declaration and accommodation record consistent, and check the individual stay deadline before requesting more time. The UK guide also cautions against travelling with a damaged or incomplete passport. If the departure form is lost, contact immigration officials before leaving to arrange an alternative record.
