Use the Cayman application system for Cayman travel

Cayman Islands visa applicants should use Customs and Border Control’s online visitor-visa process and plan for a further endorsement deadline after approval. UK Visas and Immigration confirms that it does not accept applications for British Overseas Territories or Commonwealth countries. A UK visa application is therefore not the administrative route for obtaining a Cayman visitor visa. This current guide reviews established procedures and the fee schedule in force since April 2026, rather than announcing a new October change.

The UK government’s territory-visa guidance directs travellers to the destination’s own immigration system and authorities. Use that resource to establish where the application belongs, then follow the Cayman CBC application link. Whether a visa is required still depends on nationality and the applicable exemption; being able to access the online form does not itself establish a requirement to pay for one.

Prepare the documents within the application window

CBC says the earliest a visitor-visa application can be made is three months before intended travel. Its online checklist calls for a full-face passport photograph, bank statement, current employment or study evidence, passport with at least six months remaining, and an original signed and sealed police clearance from the last residence location less than six months old. A birth certificate is required for applicants under eighteen.

The same application resource lists a non-refundable CI$92 fee, displayed alternatively as US$112.20, payable by credit or debit card; American Express is not accepted. Multiple-entry consideration has the same processing charge, but approval remains discretionary. CBC describes seven to ten working days’ processing, with variation during peak periods. Prepare the evidence before starting and leave time for additional questions rather than treating the published estimate as a guaranteed travel-ready date.

Approval must be followed by passport endorsement

CBC’s visitor-visa FAQ gives three months from approval to obtain the passport endorsement. If that period passes without endorsement, it says a new application is needed. The FAQ also describes a single-entry visa as generally valid for travel for three months. These are distinct dates: the approval-to-endorsement window, the visa’s travel validity and the permitted stay after admission should not be combined into one assumed deadline.

For illustration, someone receiving approval well before a planned trip should arrange the endorsement while the approval remains usable, then check the issued visa’s own terms. Selecting multiple entry on the application asks the officer to consider that facility; it does not guarantee it. The FAQ also confirms that the processing charge is not refunded after refusal. Retain the decision and follow the instructions attached to the actual application.

The April 2026 schedule separates visa and extension charges

The Customs and Border Control amendment regulations took effect on 2 April 2026. Their fee schedule sets CI$92 for a visitor visa and distinguishes visitor extensions from initial visa applications: a first ordinary visitor extension is CI$50 and subsequent applications CI$100. It sets a nil visitor-extension fee for the spouse, civil partner or child of a Caymanian. Use the regulations to understand the fee category before paying.

That family fee exception does not itself establish an entitlement to remain, and it should not be confused with separate permission to reside as a Caymanian’s dependant. Nor should the ordinary extension charge be assumed to include a different immigration service. CBC should confirm which application applies to the existing status and family evidence. The regulations are an existing legal instrument, not evidence that a particular traveller has received an extension.

Track the admission deadline and intended activity separately

For full British-citizen passport holders, UK entry advice describes visa-free visits for business or tourism up to six months, with extensions considered individually. It requires passport validity for the stay and notes that border officers may request onward travel and funds. Those are British passport arrangements; the six-month passport requirement in CBC’s visa application checklist concerns people applying through that process.

The UK guidance also directs work, study and residence applicants to the relevant Cayman requirements and says a work-permit application is not usually possible while present as a visitor. Before the current admission expires, use CBC’s visitor-extension form resource to identify the correct submission and request any case-specific document list. None of the reviewed sources guarantees approval, grants automatic status because a form was filed, or turns a visitor visa into unrestricted employment permission.
