Pay the appointment charge through the official booking route

Applicants booking a French visa appointment in Chad need to complete a separate payment step within 24 hours of reservation. France-Visas’ Chad page says that, since 7 October 2026, TLScontact charges 10,500 XAF for appointment booking, payable online by bank card or through Moov Africa. The appointment is confirmed only after payment validation. This is a follow-up to the October requirement, not a new November charge.

The same country page says the service charge is non-refundable. It separately identifies the French administration’s application-processing charge, collected in cash in XAF at the applicable consular exchange rate, with a receipt. Paying the appointment charge therefore does not settle the visa fee or secure a positive decision. Use the booking link provided on the official Chad page; preserve the reservation and payment evidence so that any missing confirmation can be raised through the named service.

Establish the visa category before calculating the full application budget

The official French fee table distinguishes the ordinary Schengen short-stay application charge of €90 from the €99 ordinary long-stay charge. It lists €45 for Schengen applicants aged six to under twelve and exemption for children below six, alongside specified family exemptions. These are application-processing categories, rather than a universal total payable by every household. Read the table for the category and then check the personal situation through the France-Visas assistant.

A person who qualifies for a visa-fee reduction should not infer that every other payment is also waived. Conversely, an appointment payment does not determine which immigration category applies. An illustrative parent arranging a visit with a child should establish each applicant’s visa category and age-based charge before budgeting, then confirm any applicable service-charge treatment through the official booking channel. The reviewed fee table does not establish one combined XAF total for every applicant, exchange rate and optional service.

Complete the online file and prepare usable travel documents

France-Visas’ application-steps resource explains how to identify the supporting evidence, complete the online application and attend with the completed form and receipt. It requires a travel document issued less than ten years ago, at least two blank pages and the relevant validity beyond the intended journey. For a short stay, the stated requirement is at least three months after planned departure from Schengen; the long-stay rule refers to expiry of the requested visa.

That resource also identifies recent identity photographs and originals plus copies of documents matching the purpose and personal circumstances. Papers in languages other than French or English may require French translations. These checks should be made before the appointment: a successfully paid reservation cannot correct an unsuitable passport or missing evidence. The processing resource explains that consular authorities retain responsibility for examining applications and deciding them, even where another organisation handles reception or administrative services.

Track the application and prepare the separate border file

The official tracking page explains that applicants who deposited through TLS can use their TLS account to follow progress. It also distinguishes tracking from disclosure of the decision: status information does not establish that a visa has been issued. Use the tracking route appropriate to the actual place of submission and wait for collection instructions rather than treating an appointment confirmation or payment receipt as permission to travel.

France-Visas’ arrival resource identifies supporting documents that border police may request, including accommodation for the stay, adequate resources, a return ticket or means to purchase one and medical insurance covering the visit and repatriation. For a hotel stay in France it publishes a €65 daily resources reference; without a hotel reservation the reference is €120 daily. Read the arrival page for the actual accommodation arrangement and any exemption. For private accommodation, the arrival guidance instead refers to an invitation certificate validated by the local town hall and a €32.50 daily minimum alongside it. A hotel booking and a private-host invitation therefore should not be treated as interchangeable evidence. These entry-stage funds are separate from both the October booking charge and the visa-processing fee.
