France sets 15 December deadline for preliminary university applications from Côte d’Ivoire

The French higher-education ministry’s 2027–2028 guidance sets 15 December 2026 for preliminary first-year university applications. Applicants in Côte d’Ivoire must identify the correct online route before preparing the later student-visa file.

Confirm whether the first-year deadline applies

Applicants in Côte d’Ivoire preparing first-year university study in France for 2027–2028 should check the 15 December 2026 deadline for the preliminary admission procedure, known as DAP. The French higher-education ministry published its current guidance on 2 October. The category concerns applicants outside France who are not French, EU, EEA or Swiss nationals and do not hold or expect the French or European baccalaureate. It is not a universal deadline for every course or nationality.

The ministry expressly includes Côte d’Ivoire among countries using the country-specific Campus France online process. A resident applicant should therefore follow that channel rather than assume the downloadable paper dossier is the correct submission method. Check the qualification and course category before starting; a first-year deadline should not be applied automatically to a later-year or master’s application.

Distinguish DAP from other admission channels

Campus France’s national application guide explains that European students and non-European holders of the French baccalaureate use Parcoursup for relevant first-year applications. It also directs applicants for selective courses, such as certain technical programmes and preparatory classes, to the appropriate Parcoursup procedure rather than DAP. The label first year alone does not determine the platform.

The same national guide states that DAP opened on 1 October 2026 and gives a student-response deadline of 31 May 2027 after university offers. Admission, accepting an offer and obtaining permission to travel are separate milestones. Applicants for later years should obtain the country-specific calendar instead of borrowing this DAP deadline. Keep the chosen programme’s official admission requirements with the immigration planning papers so a visa application refers to a real, appropriate course.

Check the local Campus France package before paying

Campus France Côte d’Ivoire’s current FAQ permits different training levels within one application file, but says the earliest applicable deadline must be respected. Its published example combines three first-year choices with four second-year choices. That does not create extra time for the first-year part of the dossier. Discuss an uncertain combination with the local office before validating the application.

The FAQ publishes a CFA80,000 Campus Classique package and a CFA110,000 Campus Pro package available in Abidjan, the latter including professional-preparation workshops. It expressly says Campus Pro does not guarantee success. These are published Campus France procedure packages, not visa charges or university tuition. Confirm the current campaign’s payable option through the official account before transferring money. Do not treat a more expensive package as priority immigration processing or an admission assurance.

Prepare the student visa after the admission stage

France-Visas lists Côte d’Ivoire within Études en France and identifies admission evidence among the documents needed for a student-visa application. Its adult-student page distinguishes courses shorter than three months from longer study leading to a long-stay visa with arrival formalities. The visa assistant supplies the individual document list; a Campus France payment receipt does not replace the educational acceptance evidence.

The student page publishes an indicative €50 visa fee for the Études en France category, with possible special-case differences. The official Côte d’Ivoire submission page separately lists a CFA19,000 VFS basic service charge and says the consulate in Abidjan alone decides applications. It directs ordinary-passport applicants legally resident for more than three months in Côte d’Ivoire or Liberia to VFS Abidjan. Allow appointment time and the consulate’s recommended month between long-stay submission and departure; civil-record checks can take longer. These later travel-processing periods do not extend the 15 December academic application deadline.

Record the separate arrival deadline

Campus France’s visa-validation guidance, updated on 12 August 2026, requires holders of a long-stay visa serving as a residence permit to validate it online within three months after arriving in France. It links the official foreign-nationals administration portal. Prepare the visa details, arrival date, French address and a working email account for that stage. This post-arrival obligation is separate from both the December admission deadline and the pre-departure consular application.
