Families renewing residence in Andorra should check whose insurance and social-security records are needed
The renewal checklist asks for the sponsor’s CASS extract and full health cover, while the initial family checklist describes insurance specifically for an ascendant.

Use the family-renewal checklist before the permit expires
Family-reunification residence holders should use Andorra’s B.2 renewal procedure before their permission expires. It lists the renewal application, valid identity document and copy, recent 35-by-45-millimetre photo, existing authorisation, municipal residence certificate, signature document and any representative’s authority. A lost or stolen permit requires a police certificate.
B.2 also asks for full medical cover during the authorisation, a support commitment and the CASS points extract of the person with whom reunification took place. Identify the sponsor correctly and document any previously unreported changes. The checklist is not exhaustive, so Immigration may request further evidence.
Initial and renewal insurance wording needs a careful comparison
The initial B.1 family-reunification page describes 100 percent medical cover specifically where the person being reunited is an ascendant, such as a parent, alongside a commitment to maintain that insurance. The B.2 renewal checklist does not repeat that express ascendant qualification in its insurance item. An omission from a checklist does not prove a new universal requirement or repeal of an earlier exception. Ask Immigration whether the renewal evidence applies to the actual spouse, child or ascendant category.
The initial page also requires foreign official documents to be apostilled or legalised and calls for municipal registration within three months of the immigration authorisation’s grant. Those first-issue instructions should not automatically be treated as a demand to repeat every original certificate at renewal. Establish which records remain valid, which family circumstances changed and which newly issued records are actually requested. That avoids ordering documents for the wrong stage while leaving a genuine change unreported.
Read the insurance commitment before signing it
The government’s published reunification-support declaration refers to maintaining insurance covering 100 percent of medical and healthcare expenses for holders of reunification residence. It also warns that failure to meet renewal requirements can lead to refusal. The declaration is a commitment about continuing cover, not just proof that a premium was once paid. Read it together with the policy’s coverage period and the family member identified in the application.
The direct declaration download timed out during this verification, so its indexed official wording was used and no claim is made that every current form field was inspected. Obtain the form through the renewal page and ask about any difference between its wording and the category-specific checklist. If the policy period will end before the requested permission, resolve the evidence of continued cover with the insurer and Immigration rather than assume a statement of intent replaces actual insurance.
Request the sponsor’s CASS extract through the appropriate service
CASS’s certificate-request form distinguishes an extract of points for the last 12 months from one covering a specified period. It lists requests through its public-service counter, parish offices or the published secretariat email and offers different collection methods. The form also distinguishes an income-and-contribution-base extract from the points extract. Select the document actually named by Immigration and confirm the period needed rather than submit an unrelated earnings certificate.
CASS’s procedures page recommends downloading forms afresh because they are updated frequently. Older search results include differently numbered versions of the certificate request, with different payment and collection descriptions. Use the current forms directory and ask CASS if the correct option is unclear. This article identifies a public submission route for readers; no certificate has been requested on anyone’s behalf, and no personal social-security information was accessed.
Separate the family-renewal fee from other residence categories
The government fee schedule lists 22.61 euros for delivery of a renewed residence-without-work authorisation through family reunification. It separately lists 500 euros for ordinary residence without work and 6.79 euros for the application receipt for residence without work. These are different labelled charges, not interchangeable estimates. Ask which receipt and delivery items apply to the particular family renewal before paying; the 500 euro line should not be assumed to be the family-renewal delivery charge.
The government immigration FAQ says renewal can be undertaken up to 60 days before expiry, while B.2 requires submission before expiry. Plan within the stated advance window and confirm an appointment or filing method early. Neither page establishes automatic extra stay from an unanswered enquiry. This is a current-rule guide, not a new November announcement. The precise insurance scope for each family category remains the main unresolved question, alongside any additional evidence Immigration requests for the individual file.
