Guadeloupe residents replacing lost residence cards should check the card’s exact fee category
A duplicate residence card keeps the original expiry date. Applicants in Guadeloupe should use the online replacement process and distinguish the replacement charge from a renewal.

A replacement does not extend the existing permission
Foreign residents in Guadeloupe who lose their residence card should request the correct replacement rather than assume a new card grants a fresh period of stay. The prefecture’s digital-services guidance explicitly says a duplicate keeps the same validity dates as the missing card. Its replacement section directs readers to the national lost-card procedure. This is a current-rule guide checked on 4 November, not a newly announced amnesty or renewal extension.
The local guidance also describes online case tracking and physical attendance for card delivery. Although the modernisation page is older, its distinction between replacing evidence and renewing residence remains consistent with the current national instructions. A duplicate is therefore the wrong tool for obtaining a longer permission period.
Use the national checklist for the actual card
Service Public’s guide, verified on 1 July 2026, lists a sworn loss declaration, retained card copy, passport identity, validity and entry-stamp pages, address proof under three months old and an electronic photograph code. Payment evidence is needed at delivery. EU citizens and their families use a different procedure.
Requesting a duplicate permanently invalidates the original. Finding it afterwards does not cancel replacement: collect the new document rather than resuming use of the recovered card.
The charge depends on the residence category
The July 2026 national guide lists EUR 350 for an ordinary one-year temporary card, with EUR 150 categories including students, trainees and family reunification. It also lists EUR 350 as the general multi-year-card amount, with reduced or exempt categories. Refugee, subsidiary-protection, statelessness and certain victim categories require particular attention to the detailed exemptions. Check the exact card wording instead of treating an earlier EUR 225 figure as a universal replacement price.
Purchase the right electronic fiscal stamp
The official fiscal-stamp guide explains that electronic stamps can be bought through the linked government service or an equipped tobacconist. For residence and resident-card applications, including duplicates, the online service accepts the listed CB, Visa and Mastercard cards; PayPal and American Express are not accepted.
The stamp can be supplied as a PDF with a scannable two-dimensional code or an SMS carrying a sixteen-digit identifier. Save that evidence for the card-collection stage. The guide warns against buying a fine-payment stamp by mistake and links to the reimbursement service for an unused stamp. Purchasing a stamp is payment preparation, not submission or approval of the replacement request.
Prepare an acceptable photograph rather than an old scan
Service Public’s photograph guidance, updated on 8 October 2026 and linked from the duplicate checklist, requires a recent likeness taken within six months by an authorised professional or approved booth. It provides a locator for recognised services. The electronic code requested by the replacement form should be obtained through the appropriate digital photo service.
The published photo standards call for a clear, unmarked image, a plain light background excluding white, the face directed towards the camera, neutral expression, closed mouth and visible eyes. Glasses must not obscure the eyes or create reflections. Do not assume a photograph accepted for another country’s documents meets these French specifications.
Follow online messages and the Guadeloupe collection instructions
The Interior Ministry’s ANEF guidance says documents can be uploaded as PDFs or phone photographs and identifies the Citizen Contact Centre for technical help through the online contact form or 0 806 001 620. It also describes digital-support points for people who need help completing the online procedure. Assistance with the platform should not be mistaken for a decision on the residence case.
Guadeloupe’s 5 May 2025 reception notice separately says residence-card collection requires an appointment through the prefecture’s linked booking service. Its email route for renewal appointments concerns procedures that are not digital; that is not a general instruction to email every duplicate request. Check the case notification and current local collection instructions. No individual production time or automatic travel permission was verified; a pending replacement and an approaching expiry need separate attention from the prefecture.
