Guyana requires company tax and social-security records for business-visa extensions

Business applicants should prepare the sponsor and company evidence before using Guyana’s extension portal. Official pages also disagree about the duration attached to business visa and extension charges.

Use the business extension form for an existing business permission

Business-visa holders in Guyana seeking a longer stay should use Immigration Support Services’ Business Visa Extension form. It asks for registration, company tax liability and National Insurance Scheme compliance, a sponsor permit letter, passport identity and stamped pages, photograph, police clearance and medical report.

The portal accepts PDF, JPEG, JPG and PNG uploads and requires an English translation with any non-English evidence. It supplies a reference number after submission for status checking and gives +592 223-5210 for form problems. Its ten-minute completion estimate concerns filling out the form, not deciding the extension. This current-rule guide was checked on 4 November.

The retained paper form helps explain what the sponsor must provide

The ministry PDF hosted by Foreign Affairs asks for a request letter to the Head of Immigration Support Services with a brief business history, plus the entire passport including entry stamps. Check that the online stamped-page requirement is fully met.

The PDF records the business, arrival endorsement, last extension and sponsor details. It requires a separate form for a spouse or other adult relative; naming them in the family section is not their application. Prepare the current portal’s sponsor-permit letter too: its omission from an older paper list does not withdraw the online requirement. Record the arrival and last-extension dates from the documents, not from memory.

Resolve the two-year and five-year wording before budgeting

The retained business PDF describes a two-year extension, a GYD 28,700 fee equivalent to USD 140, cash or manager’s cheque payment and an estimated one-month processing period. The government’s current Business Visa service listing instead describes GYD 28,700 for a five-year period and the same amount for a five-year renewal. These are conflicting published duration descriptions, not grounds to promise every applicant five years.

The portal service listing identifies Immigration Support Services at 6 Brickdam, Stabroek, Georgetown. Ask that office which duration and payment arrangement apply to the particular extension before paying. A visa’s multiple-entry validity, the period endorsed for an individual stay and an extension decision should not be assumed to mean the same thing. Retain the actual arrival endorsement when explaining the case.

Overseas mission instructions concern a different stage

The Guyana embassy in Brussels describes a business visa for establishing a business, meetings, machinery training and certain voluntary missionary services. Its checklist includes two forms and photographs, a passport with six months remaining, itinerary, accommodation, financial support and sponsor or company letters. It publishes a one-year business visa, EUR 150 for multiple entry and EUR 15 registered return postage.

Those are the Brussels mission’s entry-application instructions, not the inland extension price. Its roughly five-working-day estimate varies by case and payment does not guarantee issuance. Someone already in Guyana should not mail a passport abroad or pay that mission’s charge merely because the document is also called a business visa. Someone applying through Brussels should establish that the mission’s procedure remains applicable to their circumstances.

Keep the receiving authority and existing stay deadline clear

The Guyana High Commission in London directs business, employment and student applications to Immigration Support Services online and says the High Commission does not hold status updates for the visa-on-arrival applications. It also warns that issuance does not guarantee entry and tells travellers to contact Immigration Support Services if their stay will exceed the endorsed period.

That London direction and the Brussels mission page describe different overseas handling, so establish the correct route before submitting a new entry application. For the extension task, the practical sequence is to check the current endorsement, obtain company compliance and sponsor records, submit the dedicated online file and monitor its reference. The sources do not establish an automatic extension while a request is pending or a universal advance filing window. Ask Immigration Support Services about the specific expiry date and any missing-document notification rather than treating an application receipt as permission to remain indefinitely.
