Hungary restores EnterHungary: filing and deadline checks after outage
Service-restoration follow-up: EnterHungary resumed on 27 October after the security-related outage. Applicants should check submission records, payment and any required personal appearance rather than treating a saved form as filed.

Electronic immigration services resumed on 27 October
Hungary’s National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing confirmed that EnterHungary was restored at 13:50 on 27 October 2026 after technical work. Its restoration notice says electronic applications and reports under the free-movement, third-country immigration and asylum legislation are available again. The notice was last edited that afternoon. This report follows that restoration, rather than repeating the earlier expected restart as though it were still pending.
The disruption began at 14:50 on 22 October during an urgent security update. An extension notice had projected restoration by 16:00 on 27 October, but the later restoration notice provides the actual resumption time. The authority does not describe a new residence category, amnesty or automatic approval of applications affected by the outage.
Check the outage rule before recalculating a deadline
The Directorate’s outage notice says that days with at least four hours of disruption to electronic administration are excluded from the statutory time limit. It also described paper filing at client-service offices or e-Paper alternatives for disruptions exceeding one business day. Keep that notice alongside the actual dates of any attempted or completed filing when asking the authority to confirm how the rule affects a particular deadline.
This is not a blanket extension of every visa or residence document. A filing period, an authority’s procedural deadline and the expiry date printed on a permit are different matters. The notice does not provide an individual calculation for each applicant. Anyone whose status or reporting deadline fell during the outage should identify the precise procedure and obtain confirmation instead of adding the whole disruption period indiscriminately to a travel document.
A complete electronic application requires more than a draft
The Directorate’s natural-person EnterHungary instructions describe registration, completion of the electronic form, supporting uploads and payment where required. Relevant evidence includes the identifying passport page, facial photograph and purpose, subsistence, accommodation, insurance and return-travel documents. Where a representative acts, the relevant authorisation is also necessary.
The same instructions say that, where the law requires it, the applicant must appear at the regional directorate within fifteen days of confirmation of admission for identity checks, biometric data and signature recording. Electronic filing does not remove that attendance duty. Use this procedural resource to check what remains after transmission, rather than assuming that restored access means an unfinished file has been accepted.
Employers should reconcile the official case reference
The separate employer and host-entity instructions cover specified employment, research, transfer and other permit categories, with the applicant’s written consent where required. Employers register using Business Gateway access and upload the supporting file through EnterHungary. These arrangements do not establish that every nationality qualifies for every employment category; the underlying permit conditions remain applicable.
The employer instructions say an application is regarded as submitted when registered by the Directorate, which sends a case reference electronically. Check the account and registered email for that reference, missing-document requests and further instructions. The ordinary employer guidance says residence applications must not be initiated through e-Paper. Its relationship with the temporary outage alternative therefore needs case-specific confirmation if an employer used that alternative during the disruption.
Verify the fee and retain records of the completed steps
The official procedural-fee schedule lists HUF26,000 for a residence application submitted inside Hungary through EnterHungary, compared with HUF39,000 for the stated in-person issuance category. A consular residence application with the related entry visa is listed at EUR110. The correct amount depends on the procedure and any exemption; these figures are not interchangeable payments for the same filing location.
The schedule requires card payment within the electronic process. Use it to check the relevant charge before making another payment, particularly if a transaction was attempted during the outage. Preserve the application reference, payment record, submitted attachments and appointment instructions. The restoration notice does not resolve whether a particular interrupted transaction reached the authority, so a duplicate charge or application should not be assumed necessary without checking the existing case.
