Decide whether the residence permit is ending

Foreign residents leaving Indonesia permanently should arrange closure of their residence permission rather than assume a flight booking ends the immigration record. Juanda immigration describes the Exit Permit Only, or EPO, as the relevant departure service and says the traveller must leave within a maximum of seven days after the EPO stamp is issued. This current-rule guide concerns ending a stay, not a holiday followed by return under existing permission.

Juanda also describes a termination request by the guarantor or responsible person where the foreign holder of limited or permanent residence is already outside Indonesia and does not intend to return while the permit remains valid. It directs that request to the authority that issued the residence permission before its expiry. Applicants abroad should establish the issuing office’s termination procedure.

Prepare category-specific evidence with the sponsor

Ngurah Rai immigration’s EPO checklist starts with the sponsor’s application letter and identity card, the foreign resident’s passport biodata page, latest stay-permission page, limited or permanent residence permit and electronic visa. It also asks for the departure ticket and proof of payment for that ticket. The ticket is supporting evidence of the intended departure; it does not replace approval of the request.

Additional documents follow the residence category. Family cases include marriage or birth records and the spouse’s or parent’s passport and residence permission where applicable. Worker cases list labour-approval and compensation-fund documents; investor cases identify company approvals and registration or tax documents. Remote-worker cases include the employment contract. Ngurah Rai publishes an online sequence through the appropriate guarantor’s e-Visa account: application, uploads, payment, office verification and issuance. Agree who will use that account and obtain the category documents before selecting the travel date.

Distinguish an office processing estimate from the departure limit

West Jakarta’s departure-permission page gives a different presentation: submission of the required file at the immigration office, entry into the system, approval by the authorised officer and issuance. It quotes three to five working days after payment of the government charge. Its EPO checklist includes an original passport and copy, with original permanent-residence card and copy for permanent residents, and a Perdim 25 form obtained at the office.

This is an office-specific published processing sequence. It should not be added to the seven-day post-issuance departure limit as though both were one filing deadline. The West Jakarta page separately lists ERP Tidak Kembali, or non-return termination, with a statement for that purpose and a passport copy. Ngurah Rai also lists a termination service through the sponsor account. Their different intake descriptions do not establish that every office will accept an identical channel or originals package. Ask the office holding the residence record which procedure applies to an applicant already abroad.

Confirm the charge and resolve the service name before payment

Kendari immigration’s EPO/ERP/transfer page publishes Rp100,000 for EPO. It separately lists Rp200,000 for an Exit Re-Entry Permit and explains that service as a temporary departure followed by return. Those two labels should not be confused with another office’s ERP Tidak Kembali, whose words explicitly concern not returning. State whether the resident is ending permission permanently, temporarily travelling, or has already departed when asking the issuing office to identify the transaction.

Kendari requires the application before residence permission expires. For residents using that office, its published service contact is 0811-4001-331; use it to establish the correct departure transaction. Its checklist includes the valid passport and stay permit, sponsor letter and departure ticket; its procedure allows verification and an interview if necessary before payment and issuance. The published Rp100,000 is the EPO amount on that office’s page, corroborated by Juanda’s EPO guidance; it is not a quotation for an agent’s services or every other termination transaction. None of these pages establishes approval of an individual closure request or an extension of existing stay while the request is pending.
