Prepare the first extension when the status is activated

Foreign Digital Nomad status holders in Kyrgyzstan must submit the extension file within sixty days of activation. The Labor Ministry’s December 2025 guidance describes an initial sixty-day stage followed by a year, renewable annually for up to ten years. Account activation precedes application; it is not a grant.

The initial file requires a passport, portrait, contracts, annual contract income of USD 5,000, a USD 3,000 bank balance and professional evidence. Extension adds local HIV and fitness documents, existing status evidence, a DN visa where required, professional income evidence and sole-trader or company registration. Use the linked ministry checklist for the precise documents.

Establish whether the professional activity fits the programme

The Cabinet’s May 2025 announcement explains that the regulation is designed to attract specialists and investment in information and communications technology, software development and related fields. It assigns ongoing monitoring to the Labor Ministry and allows involvement of competent bodies, specialist companies and experts to assess the foreign applicant’s stated activity. A generic claim to work online is therefore not the same as a demonstrated professional fit.

The announcement also assigns the Tax Service the accounting of status holders registered as individual entrepreneurs. Keep the professional evidence and intended business arrangement consistent when preparing the extension. For an illustrative software contractor, contracts can explain the actual activity and client relationship, while bank records address the financial requirements. Neither document on its own establishes every condition. No individual occupation assessment, nationality coverage or tax treatment was confirmed for this guide.

Separate a no-fee status document from visa and medical costs

The government-hosted regulation PDF describes assignment and extension of the status without charge, through an electronic document carrying a QR code linked to the migration authority’s record. That is a charge statement about the status itself. It does not establish that medical examinations, translations, company registration or an associated visa are free.

The electronic record is also different from a draft or submitted application. Keep the issued document and check its recorded period when arranging the next step. The version examined was the government’s original 2025 regulation; the justice database identifies a later July amendment, but its full text could not be retrieved. Current detailed requirements in this guide therefore follow the later ministry operational instructions rather than an assumption that every original provision remained unchanged. Ask the ministry about any discrepancy between the issued document, portal and checklist.

Check the visa category and the family’s separate permission

The official e-visa information page describes DN visas for qualifying status holders working in information technology and software, or on the relevant authority’s petition, for up to one year. It separately describes FF family visas, including spouses, children under eighteen and specified dependent or caring relatives, for up to ninety calendar days in the ordinary category. That family permission does not authorise employment or individual business activity.

The portal says visa charges depend on category, type and period. It requires supporting documents in Kyrgyz or Russian or translated into those languages, and a passport valid at least six months beyond the requested visa period with two free pages. Check the actual visa and authorised stay rather than equate status validity with every family member’s permission. For visa questions the page publishes +996 703 428865 and +996 999 312002. No universal DN fee or automatic family extension was established.

Resolve the older business-registration advice before relying on it

An older Economy Ministry business-registration guide says a Digital Nomad already has a personal identification number and need not register with the tax authorities. That wording is materially different from the later Labor Ministry extension checklist requiring sole-trader or legal-entity registration evidence and the Cabinet announcement assigning Tax Service accounting for registered entrepreneurs. The difference should be raised explicitly when choosing how to document the business.

The older guide also describes obtaining an identification number through a public service centre for people who do not already have one, using a passport with notarised Kyrgyz or Russian translation. Do not order a second identifier simply because the extension requires a registration document: an identification number and business registration address different questions. Ask which current registration evidence the extension accepts for the actual activity. No direct ministry clarification was obtained, and a pending extension has not been established here as permission to remain beyond the existing authorised period.
