Palestine travel through Allenby requires passport-status and early-arrival checks
Current official resources distinguish West Bank population-register status, Jordanian entry permission, Allenby passenger cutoffs and separate departure charges. A crossing timetable does not guarantee admission.

Identify the traveller’s status before choosing Allenby
Travellers planning to enter or leave Palestine’s West Bank through Allenby Bridge should establish their population-register status, travel permission and Jordanian documentation before relying on the published terminal timetable. This is a current route-planning guide, not a new opening announcement. The UK government’s Palestine entry guidance warns that Israeli authorities control entry and may impose geographically restricted endorsements. Keep the entry card or immigration slip with the passport because it is evidence of lawful admission and may be needed at crossings.
The UK resource says British nationals on the Palestinian Population Register or holding a Palestinian ID number need a Palestinian passport or travel document to leave the West Bank or Gaza. Its instructions for resident British-Palestinian dual nationals differ from ordinary visitor advice. A foreign passport therefore does not automatically place its holder in the general tourist procedure. Use the nationality-specific guidance and the relevant authorities to clarify the actual document set before arranging transport to a terminal.
Jordanian permission and checkpoint access remain separate
Canada’s Israel and Palestine guidance says Canadians using Allenby to enter Jordan require a visa before crossing, unlike the arrival-visa arrangements it describes at certain other crossings. It also says West Bank ID holders use Allenby as their exit option even if they hold Canadian passports. People without a West Bank ID have different crossing options. These distinctions make the passport and registration history material to the route, not merely details to settle at the counter.
The Canadian resource warns that security closures can restrict movement even for holders of valid entry and exit permits. Confirm access to the crossing and the permission for the onward country independently. A permit does not establish that a checkpoint is operating, while an open terminal does not establish that Jordan will admit a particular traveller. The guidance should be used for those separate checks, rather than as a guarantee that a prebooked connection can be reached.
Work backwards from the passenger acceptance cutoff
The Israel Airports Authority’s Allenby Opening Hours page currently lists passenger operations from 08:00 to 18:30 Sunday through Thursday and 08:00 to 15:30 on Friday, with Saturday closed. It requires passengers to arrive at least three hours before closing; Palestinian passengers arriving by bus have a stated two-and-a-half-hour cutoff. Holiday and security changes can alter the operating schedule, so recheck this page for the intended travel date.
For illustration, a general passenger using the published Sunday closing time should calculate a latest arrival of 15:30, rather than plan to reach the terminal shortly before 18:30. The separate Transportation and parking page requires advance coordination for individual pickups and larger groups, with different instructions for Palestinian passengers travelling through Jericho Terminal. Private-vehicle drop-off does not require prior coordination under that page. Use the linked pickup form or group contact for the applicable transport arrangement; long-term parking is not permitted.
Distinguish departure charges from immigration permission
The Airports Authority’s fee notice, dated 31 March, gives rates effective from 15 April through 31 December 2026. For Allenby, it lists NIS208 for a departing passenger and NIS182 for a departing passenger holding a Palestinian passport. Its payment instructions distinguish online card payment from payment at the operator’s counter, where an additional NIS7 desk charge applies. These are crossing charges, not visa fees or evidence of admission.
The separate Allenby Fees page lists exemptions including children under two and specified diplomatic, humanitarian and official categories. Check the stated exemption against the traveller’s documents rather than assume that a reduced passport rate is a complete waiver. Obtain any required visa or permit before travel, retain the payment evidence and allow for the passenger cutoff as well as checkpoint delays.
