Check the previous visa before starting a repeat application

Papua New Guinean citizens returning to Australia for a holiday or eligible business visit can check whether the streamlined Apply again option is available in ImmiAccount. The Australian High Commission describes arrangements operating from 1 July 2026 for eligible citizens with a compliant immigration history and a Tourist or Business Visitor subclass 600 application finalised within the previous five years. This current-rule guide explains an existing facility, not a new November visa waiver.

The arrangement pre-fills parts of an application; eligibility is assessed within the application process. Some applicants may receive further simplification or longer visa validity, but the announcement does not promise either benefit to everyone. A previous visa is the starting record for a new application, not permission to travel after that visa has expired. Check an existing grant before deciding whether a new application is actually needed.

Use the finalised application in the correct account

The High Commission's Visas, Migration and Citizenship instructions say to open the List of Applications in ImmiAccount and select Apply again beside the last finalised subclass 600 case. Read the terms and conditions. Eligible users receive the streamlined form; others receive a message directing them back to begin a new Visitor application. Follow that result rather than submitting inaccurate answers to obtain the shorter form.

Home Affairs' Apply and manage your application resource explains that ImmiAccount can import an application as well as start or continue one. The High Commission specifically points to this function where the old finalised case must be linked to the account. An illustrative returning holidaymaker whose previous application was lodged through another account should first check the import instructions. A missing button does not itself establish a refusal or cancellation of the old visa, and it does not justify making duplicate applications without checking the account record.

Prepare current tourist evidence and check the price

For a holiday or family visit, use Home Affairs' Tourist stream page to assess the underlying visa requirements. The outside-Australia stream requires the applicant to be outside Australia when applying and when the decision is made. The page describes temporary visits and requires an individual application for every family member, including a child recorded on a parent's passport. Streamlined data entry does not combine the family into one visa case.

The Tourist stream lists a standard charge starting at AUD250 but separately describes a lower charge from 1 July 2026 for eligible holders of specified Pacific and Timor-Leste passports, including Papua New Guinea. ImmiAccount recognises eligible passports during application. Do not assume the standard headline amount is the actual concession price; check the charge generated for your case. Health checks, police certificates and biometrics can add costs. The published stream information does not make those external expenses part of the visa application charge.

Respond to biometric requests and keep the application accurate

Home Affairs' Biometrics resource says applicants may be required to give biometrics again for another visa, even where they have supplied them previously. The department sends the relevant letter or invitation and advises whether attendance at a collection centre or an eligible digital route applies. For an in-person appointment, bring the valid travel document linked to the application. Follow the individual request rather than assuming that a previous visit removes this requirement. The department's public instructions explain that biometrics may be compared with stored records to confirm identity; completing that identity step does not itself decide the visa application.

Home Affairs' online-application overview says supporting documents depend on the visa and directs applicants to their specific visa instructions. Check pre-filled passport particulars, travel purpose and present circumstances, then attach the current evidence requested by the form. A saved application is not a submitted application, and completion of biometrics is not a visa grant. Neither the streamlined announcement nor the local instructions supplies a universal decision deadline. Keep travel plans flexible until the decision and read the granted entry, stay and activity conditions before departure. Questions about an unavailable repeat option should identify the old application and the account issue, without assuming eligibility has already been established.
