Republic of Congo visa applicants in Paris still need to deliver their passports
Current embassy guidance separates online applications and payment from physical passport delivery, with nationality-specific checks before departure.

Confirm the Republic of Congo route before submitting
Travellers using the Republic of Congo’s embassy in France should prepare both the online visa application and delivery of the actual passport. Its service catalogue permits registered post or direct deposit at the embassy. This current procedural guide concerns Congo-Brazzaville, not the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and does not announce a new November visa rule. Selecting the wrong country’s portal would leave the intended journey without the required application.
France Diplomatie’s entry guidance, updated on 30 October 2026, says travellers covered by its advice must obtain the visa before departure, with a diplomatic-passport exception, and that visas are not issued on arrival. It describes ordinary processing as generally a week, sometimes longer. Use that resource for the pre-departure requirement and retain time for physical passport delivery and return; the guidance is not a promise that a request submitted shortly before travel will be completed.
Choose the duration and fee from the embassy catalogue
The Paris catalogue lists a 15-day visa at €55, or €110 express, and a 91-day visa at €110, or €220 express. Separate reduced categories cover children aged zero to five and people aged 65 or older; the 15-day reduced price is €28, or €55 express. The relevant category should be selected from the live catalogue, rather than assuming a child is automatically fee-exempt or paying the adult express amount.
The checklist includes a passport valid at least six months after the travel date, a white-background colour photograph, invitation or hosting evidence approved by the departmental territorial-surveillance authority, return transport and subsistence evidence. Minor applicants additionally need parental exit authorisation, proof of relationship and a parent’s identity copy. Use the catalogue to establish the particular file and physical-delivery arrangements. Its deposit and collection windows differ, so verify the appropriate time before attending.
Treat payment, acceptance and issuance as separate stages
The embassy’s service terms describe completing all online fields and uploading the requested documents before confirmation and bank-card payment. According to the service selected, a subsequent appointment may be required. Users should follow the instructions for their particular visa transaction rather than assuming the appointment rule is identical for passports, civil records and visas. The terms are the official resource for checking the payment and follow-up sequence.
The terms say a refused request does not result in a refund, and incomplete information or non-payment can cause refusal or cancellation. Applicants can follow progress through the site or contact the embassy, and documents return by the selected delivery method. A successful card transaction therefore does not establish that the visa has been granted. Retain the payment reference, application record and postal tracking separately; these identify different stages when asking the embassy about a delayed file.
Resolve passport differences and retain evidence for arrival
The UK government’s advice for full British-citizen passports requires a visa in advance and directs applicants to the Congolese embassy in the UK. It says the passport must cover the stay without an additional validity period, whereas the Paris application catalogue asks for six months after the travel date. These instructions address different consular and nationality contexts. A British traveller applying through Paris should ask the receiving mission which requirement governs the application rather than ignoring its checklist. The UK page also warns that a passport reported lost or stolen cannot be used for entry. A dual British citizen returning to the UK needs the valid British passport or a certificate of entitlement, so the return-leg document should be checked before sending a passport away for processing.
France Diplomatie also lists return transport, repatriation insurance, accommodation evidence and the international vaccination booklet as documents that may be requested at entry. A private hosting certificate is described as municipally issued and certified by DDST; a confirmed paid hotel reservation is another listed option. The UK and French resources both identify yellow-fever certification as an entry requirement. Carry the evidence relevant to the route and passport after issuance, and confirm any onward crossing separately. None of these resources establishes that the visitor visa grants employment or long-term residence.
