Official visa lists need a nationality-specific check
Travellers to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines should verify their nationality’s visa position before booking where official lists differ. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ current visa-criteria page names Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Nepal, Nigeria and Syria. It directs these applicants to the Ministry of National Security for a decision. This guide reviews published procedures as they stand; no new October expansion of that list has been confirmed.
A separate entry-visa criteria PDF hosted on the government portal names nine countries and does not include Bangladesh, Cameroon or Nepal. The difference is material to an affected passenger. Absence from that older-looking checklist should not be treated as a confirmed exemption when another responsible ministry expressly lists the nationality. Ask National Security or the relevant diplomatic mission to resolve the case before committing to travel, and retain the reply for the carrier.
Build the sponsor and financial evidence together
The government’s entry-visa criteria PDF requests a coloured passport biographical-page copy, two identical passport photographs, a sponsor letter, a valid police certificate of character, and a financial statement from the applicant or sponsor. It also identifies hotel bookings and charter agreements where applicable. Use that document to assemble the substantive file rather than treating the visa application as a passport-only request.
The Foreign Affairs criteria explain that officials arrange an interview with the proposed sponsor and examine financial maintenance, employment evidence, accommodation, intended duration and the sponsor’s status on the island. A sponsor should therefore be able to substantiate the invitation and support arrangement. For illustration, a visitor staying with relatives should make the proposed address and responsibility for expenses clear; a relationship alone does not demonstrate that the sponsor has satisfied the ministry’s assessment.
Complete the single-journey form and confirm payment
The official entry-visa application asks for citizenship, passport issuance and expiry, occupation, employer, intended arrival and address, host contact details, purpose and length of stay. It also asks about earlier visits, visa refusals, cancellations, criminal convictions and intention to work. Read every question and disclose the requested history accurately; the form warns that false or misleading information can lead to refusal or denial of entry.
That form is marked for a single journey and states a non-refundable EC$200 fee. The criteria PDF separately gives a wire-transfer instruction of US$88 plus US$8 bank charges. These are the published payment descriptions, not interchangeable currency amounts to choose without checking. Confirm the current method and exact total with the ministry before sending money. Neither a fee receipt nor a completed form constitutes an approved visa, and no reliable decision deadline is specified in the reviewed application resources.
Visa exemption and admission duration are different questions
The Ministry of National Security’s visitor-permit guidance describes six-month admission categories for CARICOM nationals, United Kingdom and United States travellers and Schengen countries, and three months for other international countries. It separately describes indefinite stay for OECS nationals. These categories should be read alongside any advance-visa requirement rather than used to infer that everyone can arrive without clearance.
For full British-citizen passport holders, the UK government confirms visa-free visits with a six-month period and requires a passport valid for at least six months after arrival. Use that resource for the ordinary British passport position. A different passport or a proposed purpose beyond visiting can require different preparation. Check the actual border permission and its expiry rather than assuming that an accommodation reservation determines the lawful stay.
Apply for more time before the existing stay ends
National Security says visitors wishing to stay beyond the period granted can apply at Immigration Head Office in Kingstown or the ports of Bequia, Mustique, Canouan and Union Island. Its published extension charge is EC$75 in cash for each month or part of a month. Contact the office while current permission remains valid and confirm which supporting documents and attendance arrangements are required for the individual case.
The same ministry distinguishes residence and employment applications from visitor entry, directing those seeking to live or work in the country to obtain permission. The UK guidance likewise warns against overstaying and work without a work permit. No reviewed source establishes an automatic extension or a general work entitlement from a visitor visa. The immediate practical priorities are resolving any nationality-list conflict, preparing sponsor evidence, obtaining the required decision before travel and tracking the admission deadline after arrival.
