UAE jobseeker visas require qualifying skills or recent graduation and do not authorise employment

Current guidance distinguishes job-search eligibility, the federal and Dubai fee schedules, the entry deadline and the separate process needed before taking paid work.

Check the qualifying route before choosing a sixty-day stay

The UAE Government’s jobseeker-visa guide, updated on 18 February 2026, describes a visit without a local host or sponsor for people seeking employment. It lists sixty-, ninety- and 120-day options. This current guide explains the existing route rather than a new November recruitment programme. Being willing to look for work is not, by itself, the published eligibility test.

The national guidance requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and the prescribed financial guarantee. Applicants must also qualify either through professional skill levels one to three under the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation classification, or as graduates of a Ministry of Education-approved top-500 university within the preceding two years. This alternative matters for an experienced skilled worker who is not a recent graduate, and for a recent graduate establishing the approved university ranking. Use the official jobseeker guide to identify the route before collecting the supporting qualification evidence.

The federal service distinguishes entry validity from permitted stay

ICP’s specific sixty-day Job Exploration Visa service states that the entry visa must be used within sixty days of issuance. It also requires a passport valid for at least six months and valid UAE health insurance. Applicants should distinguish that entry window from the period they may remain after admission. The issued permission, rather than the date a recruiter expects an interview, is the document to check before travelling.

The federal checklist identifies the passport, photograph and bachelor’s certificate, alongside the relevant professional-level or university-ranking evidence. It additionally lists a personal identity-card copy for applicants from Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq. The sixty-day service lists AED 100 application, AED 100 issuance and AED 100 smart-service charges, plus an AED 1,000 financial guarantee. ICP describes a refund request after cancellation or departure, subject to cancellation after departure and no residence violations. The guarantee is therefore not simply another non-refundable visa charge, but neither should its return be assumed automatic.

Dubai publishes its own service charges and wording

Dubai’s GDRFA job-exploration service lists base visa fees of AED 200 for sixty days, AED 300 for ninety days and AED 400 for 120 days, plus five percent VAT. It separately lists an AED 1,000 security amount, AED 20 guarantee-service charge and AED 40 collection-and-return charge. Additional charges apply where the applicant is inside the country, including AED 500 for that circumstance and the listed knowledge and innovation charges.

These entries explain why a base visa price should not be advertised as the entire application cost. GDRFA warns that the total may vary with the applicant’s circumstances. Its eligibility wording also presents skill classification and top-university graduation differently from the explicit alternatives in the national and ICP guidance. Someone relying on only one qualifying limb should ask the issuing authority to confirm the evidence required in that channel. The federal service card and Dubai card should not be blended into an invented single nationwide tariff or an unconditional promise of approval.

A successful job search still requires the employment procedure

The UAE Government’s labour-and-visa-fraud guidance states that visit or tourist permission does not authorise work. For the employment route it describes, applicants should obtain the official MoHRE offer signed by the authorised manager and verify it using the reference number through MoHRE’s enquiry service. A recruiter’s informal letter or interview invitation is not the same evidence. The guidance also explains that employers bear recruitment expenses under the applicable labour law.

ICP’s official questions and answers describe the employment Work Bundle as combining work-entry, medical fitness, biometrics, Emirates ID and residence procedures. That separate sequence is relevant after an employer is found; it is not completed by obtaining a jobseeker visa. Applicants should keep the visa’s entry and stay dates in view while the employer establishes the appropriate employment transaction. The reviewed pages do not guarantee a job or grant an automatic extension while recruitment is pending. The practical progression is to verify the qualifying jobseeker category, apply through the correct issuing authority, and obtain the required employment permission before starting work.
