Check the visa category before relying on arrival processing

Zimbabwe separates visitors into nationality categories with different pre-travel obligations. Category A does not require a visitor visa, Category B can obtain one on arrival, and Category C must apply, pay and receive a visa before travelling. This current guide concerns existing arrangements, rather than a new October visa exemption.

The Immigration Department’s Category C page includes Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Nepal, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Qatar among the nationalities requiring advance permission. Its instructions expressly require obtaining the visa before travel. An online application number or payment confirmation should not be treated as that issued permission. Check the Department’s current nationality page for the passport used, especially when comparing an older tourism listing or brochure.

Prepare documents for the actual reason for the visit

The Department’s holiday-visa checklist requires a passport photograph, a scan of the passport biodata page, proof of residence and the destination address. If staying with a resident, it also requests a host invitation and the host’s residence or identity evidence. Use that dedicated checklist to prepare the holiday file, including the address where the visitor will actually stay.

A business visit has a different supporting-evidence list. The Department requests the photograph, passport biodata and residence evidence, an invitation letter or business profile, a letter from the sending company, and a previous Zimbabwe visa where applicable. An ordinary holiday submission should not be assumed to authorise a commercial assignment. Longer stays, employment and study require examination of the relevant permit route, rather than simply selecting a longer-looking visitor product.

Visa charges depend on nationality and the selected product

The Immigration Department tariff lists USD30 for an ordinary single-entry visa online or at a port of entry. It separately lists USD55 for a British single-entry application online and USD70 for a British double-entry application, while a Chinese single-entry application online is listed at USD60. These nationality-specific rows mean the ordinary USD30 figure should not be advertised as a universal price.

The tariff also distinguishes visa fees from temporary-employment and residence-permit charges. Confirm the product and final official payment instructions before paying. The national tourism authority’s category guidance identifies South African and Zambian visitors among Category A and British and United States visitors among Category B. Visa exemption or arrival eligibility does not establish permission to work or remove the need for acceptable travel documents.

Plan border crossings around the permission actually granted

For British visitors, UK government guidance says the passport should be valid for at least six months after arrival and have three blank pages for entry, neighbouring-country crossings or departure at short notice. It describes ordinary arrival permission as usually 30 days. Check the endorsement rather than assuming the maximum period discussed on a website was granted.

The same guidance describes the USD50 KAZA Univisa, valid for 30 days for travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia and day trips to Botswana. It lists availability at Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls airports and the Victoria Falls and Kazungula land borders. This is a particular regional product; it should not be assumed available to every nationality or equivalent to an ordinary single-entry visa. Confirm eligibility and the intended crossing before choosing it.

Complete the declaration and resolve extensions separately

The Immigration Department’s Category C instructions also encourage completion of the Zimbabwe Entry Declaration Form before travel. That form is separate from obtaining an advance visa. A traveller needing Category C permission must satisfy the visa requirement even if a declaration has already been completed. No universal visa-processing guarantee is established by the specific holiday and business checklists reviewed.

For extensions or renewals, the UK entry guidance directs travellers to attend the Zimbabwe Immigration Department personally. For illustration, a visitor planning an excursion outside Zimbabwe should check whether the existing permission supports return, while someone remaining beyond the endorsed stay must address an extension before relying on a later departure. Neither a declaration nor the existence of a double-entry or regional product automatically changes a visa already issued.
